thinking about ... getting new bedding + reupholstering my headboard

i think i'm having a delayed quarter life crisis, or maybe it's just winter blues hitting me hard, but i feel about my bedroom the way i sometimes feel about my wardrobe - the dreaded "i hate everything i own and i have nothing to wear" feeling. i mean, I really need to give myself a reality check! i like my room, but there are elements to it that i no longer feel are in line with my style preferences. mainly, i think it's too fussy. which is good, because that means i can get rid of things, and not replace them. for example, i have too many throw pillows on my bed. they end up living on the floor, and because my room is tiny, i trip on them in the middle of the night. also, i have candle sconces flanking my bed. i never light them because i don't want soot on my white walls! talk about ocd. and purposeless decor. i think they're cool, so i'll keep them to maybe use in the future (if i ever have a mantle!) but i want to take them down for now. my headboard is from craigslist, and i reupholstered it, but now i just don't want so many patterns. all the fabric swatches above are options for reupholstery...honestly, i'm thinking black. or, maybe just going rogue and selling it and just not even having a headboard - how scandalous! i love the blue quilt in option two also..and lack of throw pillows. although, the thought of having linen bedding (option one) is so alluring. option three is nice, but maybe too of the moment. because i'm trying to take my time with decisions for my home, i want to really think carefully and consider this an investment. nice sheets, nice bedding (linen, right? i should get linen), and a mattress topper for backs sake. your home should be a place filled with items that serve a purpose, lift you up, and create a feeling a comfort and stability. having to kneel down and jimmy the bottom drawer of my dresser back into place every time i use it isn't exactly doing that for me. going forward, i want to really focus on quality over quantity, and if that means waiting a year for the perfect vintage mid century dresser on craigslist, that's what that means. in the meantime, here are some photos for inspiration. and i'll keep you posted on the whole headboard thing.
